Pentagon Employees Party it up with Las Vegas Escorts

According to a story first broke by, a defense department audit uncovered records of numerous Pentagon employees using government-issued credit cards to rack up wild expenditures on booze, escorts, and gambling while in Las Vegas.  The audit specifically targeted ‘Government Travel Charge Transactions” and was conducted by the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General. This RT article talks about government employees spending money in Las Vegas, or just watch the video below.

RT news about government money being spent in Las Vegas

In a hail of bureaucratic Orwellian doublespeak, a Pentagon Official stressed that the Federal Government did not directly pay the charges; as a matter of policy, cardholders pay their own bills and later submit receipts to be reimbursed for expenses.  So in essence the Federal Government still footed the bill.

Our HQ staff was perplexed as to why such a big deal was being made about the whole situation; sounds like a damn good time to us.  Perhaps we exhibit some bias about matters like these.  In all fairness anytime a story containing Pentagon employees and Las Vegas escorts, or Private Strippers in Las Vegas, with a healthy amount of booze poured over the top sees the light of day; it’s a sensational story and of course, it’s going to whip up a full-on media frenzy.

The focus of this investigation is on the taxpayer footing the bill and the mainstream media has of course trotted out the dead horse of government waste for yet another show flogging.   It is important to put the amount of money spent by these rouge fun-loving pentagon employees in perspective.  This is the same Pentagon that in a speech by Donald Rumsfeld  on September 10th, 2001 announced  “According to some estimates, we cannot track $2.3 Trillion dollars in transactions.”

You could hire every escort on earth and pay each of their fees every hour on the hour continually for one hundred years and never come close to spending 2.3 trillion.

It begs the question of why the mainstream media is not more focused on the real waste in government? Oh yes, that’s right, they are owned by some of the same corporate conglomerates that benefit from Pentagon spending. At the end of the day, this story and the attention it is receiving is to give the illusion that our Federal Government is cracking down on wasteful spending while the real corruption continues, business as usual. Hey, at least these guys had a good time with some beautiful escorts living it up out on the town in Las Vegas.

I for one sleep better at night knowing that’s exactly where my tax dollars went when the alternative is 2.3 trillion “missing“.
